The courses below are available on the Workforce Training Fund Program.  All courses have been pre-approved by the State for Express Grant Applicants

Safety Courses:

Safety Seminar – What every employee needs to know (8 hours)

This workshop will provide an overview of multiple topics affecting the safety and health of employees. Participants will leave with the knowledge in topics such as: ergonomics, incident reporting and investigation, preventing accidents, chemical safety, lockout tagout, emergency procedures and action plan, and more. Topics are customizable to the business. This course can be taken by all Management and Employees. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities. Language: English and Spanish options available.

Preventing Incidents during Hot Work (4 hours)

Hot work safety training is necessary for anyone who performs welding, cutting, and brazing. Improper hot work operations can cause damage to property as well as cause serious injuries. Participants will learn how to control the hazards associated with hot work operations and prevent injuries. This training is imperative for employees performing hot work as well as supervisors.  This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities.  Language: English and Spanish options available.

Risk Assessment through Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) Program (6 hours)

Effectively assessing the hazards faced by employees during their day to day operations is an effective tool to minimizing injuries as well as production interruptions. Performing JHAs helps supervisors and management assess and mitigate risks associated with their operations.  This training will provide the tools to create JHAs as well as the risk assessment skills to implement controls where hazards are identified.  This course is applicable for Supervisors, Safety Managers, and other Management.  This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities.  Language: English and Spanish options available.

Basic First Aid/ CPR/AED Certification (6 hours)

This course provides participants with a CPR/First Aid/AED certification from the American Red Cross.  The trainer is American Red Cross certified to provides the curriculum which includes basic emergency first aid,  performing CPR, the proper usage of AEDs, and Bloodborne Pathogens. This course is designed for first-aid responders, supervisors/management, or any employees who want knowledge in  First Aid/CPR/AEDs. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities.  Language: English and Spanish options available.

Permit Required Confined Spaces (4 hours)

Understanding the hazards associated with confined spaces is critical to prevent serious injuries/fatalities. This course will educate participants on proper hazard recognition, controls, monitoring, and emergency procedures associated with Confined Space Entries. This course is applicable for Confined Space Entry Personnel, Employees, Supervisors, Safety Professionals, and Management. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities.  Language: English and Spanish options available.

DOT Compliance for Fleet Operations (4 hours)

This seminar is for companies operating commercial vehicle fleets and follows the DOT requirements. The course will cover vehicle inspections, DOT Clearinghouse, Medical Evaluations, Recordkeeping, Driver Qualifications, Audits, etc. This course is applicable for managers of Fleet operations and safety managers. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities.  Language: English

Emergency Action Plan and Life Safety (6 hours)

This course will take participants through the requirements for an emergency action plan, how to prepare for the unexpected, how to ensure their building is designed for proper life safety, and how to educate others on the importance of emergency preparedness.  This course is applicable for all Employees, Supervisors, Safety Managers, and other Management. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities.  Language: English and Spanish options available.

Preventing Musculoskeletal Injuries through Good Ergonomic Practices  (4 hours)

This course will educate employees on Ergonomic practice and fitting the workstation to the worker.  Participants will learn about the different types of musculoskeletal diseases, their causes, and symptoms. This course also provides a hands-on evaluation of a job task to teach participants how to evaluate a workspace using neutral postures. This course is applicable for all Employees, Supervisors, Safety Managers, and other Management. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities.  Language: English and Spanish options available.

Fire Safety, Prevention, and the Use of Fire Extinguishers (4 hours)

In order to use a fire extinguisher in the work environment, employees must be trained to do so.  Otherwise, these life safety devices are only there for the Fire Department’s use.  This course will provide participants with the knowledge to recognize when and if a fire extinguisher should be used. They will learn about the maintenance of Fire Extinguishers and other Fire Safety Devices.  They will also use a fire extinguisher in a practical demonstration. This course is applicable for all Employees, Supervisors, Safety Managers, and other Management. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities. Language: English and Spanish options available. 

Working at Heights – Fall Prevention and Protection (4 hours)

Participants will learn the difference between fall prevention and fall protection.  They will also become familiar with the different options for workers to protect themselves while working at heights.  This will include a practical demonstration using the company fall protection devices and suggestions for alternative methods. This course is applicable for all Employees who work at heights, Supervisors, Safety Managers, and other Management. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities. Language: English and Spanish options available.

Powered Industrial Truck (Forklift/Powered Pallet Jack) Program Trainer (4 hours)

During this course, participants will develop a compliant Forklift Training and Evaluation Program.  This should be attended by Supervisors or Safety Managers that would like to become trainers. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities.  Language: English and Spanish options available.

HAZWOPER Awareness Level (4 hours)

The HAZWOPER Awareness level course is for First Responders who are likely to witness or discover a hazardous substance release and notify the proper authorities of the release. They would take no further action beyond notifying the authorities of the release. This course is applicable for all Employees that may witness or discover a hazardous materials release. Supervisors, Safety Managers, and other Management. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities.  Language: English and Spanish options available.

HAZWOPER 8-hour Operations Level (8 hours)

The HAZWOPER Operations level course is designed for first responders at the operations level. Similar to the awareness level, they are personnel likely to witness or discover a hazardous substance release and then initiate an emergency response by notifying the proper authorities of the release but, in addition, have the ability to contain or control a leak. This course is applicable for all Employees that may be asked to contain a hazardous materials release. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities.  Language: English and Spanish options available.

Don’t Get Cut – Knife Usage at Work (2 hours)

This course will go over the proper handling, use, storage, and maintenance of knives used in the industrial environment. Participants will also evaluate the personal protective equipment for the use of knives and explore options.  This course is applicable for all Employees who use knives as part of their employment, Supervisors, Safety Managers, and other Management. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities.  Language: English and Spanish options available.

Assessing the Protective Guarding Requirements for Your Machinery  (6 hours)

Improper guards on machinery can cause serious injuries including amputation and electrocution.  This course will include the required guarding devices for different types of equipment.  Discussions will vary depending on the equipment at the facility. An assessment of current guarding conditions and suggestions will be included in the course.  This course is applicable for all Machine Operators, Maintenance Personnel, Supervisors, Safety Managers, and other Management. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities. Language: English and Spanish options available.

Respiratory Protection (4 hours)

This program is designed to help employees understand the use of respirators in the workplace including cartridge selection, limits of different types of respirators, medical evaluation, and fit testing requirements. The course is appropriate for any employee working with or around hazardous chemicals, maintenance staff, supervisors, and safety managers, among others. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities.   Language: English and Spanish options available. 

New Hire Orientation Seminar – From Start to Success (8 hours)

This workshop assists the client with developing a new hire training orientation. Participants will analyze what training is needed, design the content and media used to convey the information, develop the delivery method for the content, implement the training plan, and evaluate the effectiveness through post training assessments.  This course is available for all Human Resources and Safety Managers. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities. Language: English and Spanish options available.

Lifting Stuff – Hoisting and Rigging for the Maintenance Shop (4 hours)

This program is designed to help maintenance employees understand the proper use of hoists and riggings materials. The course is appropriate for any maintenance or operations employee that has to use hoists to move materials, as well as supervisors, safety managers, and other management. This course will be provided utilizing in-person training at the Client site consisting of presentations and hands-on activities.   Language: English and Spanish options available. 

Human Resources Development Courses:

Setting Goals (4 hours)

This workshop discusses the importance of creating S.M.A.R.T. goals with direct reports, as well as creating realistic and attainable goals. This workshop is held in-person and includes lectures, discussions, and interactive exercises for supervisors and managers roles. This training is provided in English.

Effective Performance Reviews (4 hours)

This course teaches supervisors and managers how to provide feedback and evaluate an individual’s performance in a professional setting. This course is held in-person and includes lectures, discussions, and interactive exercises.  This training is provided in English.

1:1 Employee Meetings (2 hours)

During this course, supervisors and managers learn the importance of open communication, building trust, and supporting the employee’s growth and development. This course is held in-person, and includes lectures, discussions, and interactive exercises.  This training is provided in English.

Positive Coaching (4 hours)

This workshop discusses the importance of coaching employees by fostering your team’s growth and improving their performance.  Supervisors and managers will learn what manager coaching skills are, why they’re important, and learn the types of coaching skills for their manager career.  This workshop is held in-person, and includes lectures, discussions, and interactive exercises.  This training is provided in English.

Supervisor Boot Camp – S.M.A.R.T. Goals, Effective Performance Reviews, 1:1 Employee Meetings, Positive Coaching (8 hours)

This course teaches supervisors and managers how to partner with their employees to create S.M.A.R.T. and attainable goals, provide feedback and evaluate performance, having effective 1:1 meeting, all while fostering growth and improving performance.  This course will be held in-person, and includes lectures, discussions, and interactive exercises.  This training is provided in English.
